Upgrade vs Update

What is an upgrade?

When a Soundtoys user owns multiple plug-ins, they might find themselves wishing they had the entire Soundtoys bundle. As such, we offer Upgrades, which allow you to "trade in" your existing plug-ins, and purchase a discounted license for the full Soundtoys 5.4 bundle in return.

For example, if you have licenses for Decapitator, EchoBoy, and SuperPlate, you would see an available upgrade in the "Upgrade Offers" tab of your Soundtoys account. After purchasing the upgrade, those licenses for Decapitator, EchoBoy, and SuperPlate would be removed from your account. After that, you would receive an Activation Code and installer for the entire Soundtoys 5.4 bundle, which includes all of the plug-ins in our catalogue.

You can also Upgrade your "Little" plug-ins to their larger counterparts. For example, if you have a license for Little Radiator, you can upgrade to a license for Radiator. That license for Radiator actually allows you to download and activate both Radiator and Little Radiator, so don't worry about losing access to the Little version of your plug-ins!

What is an update?

When we release a new version of an existing product, that is called an Update. An update typically has features such as enhanced performance, bug fixes, and improved compatibility with the latest DAWs and operating systems.

For example, let's say you just installed the latest version of your DAW, and you want to make sure that your Soundtoys plug-ins are updated to be compatible with that software. To update, just navigate to the "My Products" section of your Soundtoys account, then download the installer. Once installed, you will have the latest update available for your purchased plug-ins ready to go.

The installers available to download in your Soundtoys account are always the most recent version of what you own.
