How to transfer an activation between a computer and an iLok USB key

This article can help you move an activation that is on your computer onto your iLok USB Key, or vice versa.

Requirements

• The license and iLok USB key must be registered to the same iLok.com account.
• You will need to have the iLok USB key inserted into the computer.
• If moving from the computer to an iLok USB Key, the computer must contain the activations (this cannot be done remotely).

Moving activations from the computer to the iLok USB key

1. Open up the iLok License Manager and log into your account.
2. In the Local list, click on the first location which should be the name of your computer.
3. Make sure you can find the license you want to transfer in the list of licenses.
   Note: Make sure it says "You" in the "Owner" column. If it says "Not Registered", right-click the license and choose "Take Ownership". If it says someone else, you may be logged into the wrong iLok account.
4. Select the licenses and then drag and drop them onto the listing for your iLok USB Key in the Local list.
5. Confirm the deactivations (from the computer) and the activations (to the iLok USB key), and you're done!

Moving activations from the iLok USB key to the computer

1. Open up the iLok License Manager and log into your account.
2. In the Local list, click on the iLok USB key location.
3. Select the licenses and then drag and drop them onto the first listing in the Local list, which should be the name of your computer.
4. Confirm the deactivations (from the iLok USB key) and the activations (to the computer), and you're done!
